New Music: Weekly Releases for February 11, 2024
NEW MUSIC ALERT
My sincere apologies for missing last week’s new music releases. Unfortunately, I fell sick. By Day 6 though, I was more than ready to be back to health and working. It’s true what they say... Health is wealth because, my God, would I have done anything to buy it back with my last dollar.
While I could not necessarily sit up for more than a mere 30 minutes, I was able to catch up on all things TV.
With the Grammy Award Show streaming last Sunday, of course, I caught some of the best moments. (Congratulations to all the winners that night.)
Following one of music’s most exciting nights came with a handful of announcements, including a number of pop music figures such as Lana Del Rey, Beyoncé, and Post Malone, sharing that country albums are in tow.
Beyoncé, known to never miss a beat, is staying true to that. The Houston, Texas girl dropped the first two singles off her forthcoming country project.
“TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and "16 CARRIAGES” are already running amok. The tracks have both fans and listeners buzzing across social media with excitement. Take a listen if you haven’t already!
Another fellow Texan is in the mix this week with the release of her single, “Deeper Well.” The song is just a tiny glimpse of what we can expect on Kacey Musgraves upcoming self-titled album set to drop on March 15th.
To close out the country music round, 2023’s New Faces Artist Nate Smith dropped his first pre-release off his new LP, “Through the Smoke,” scheduled to debut on April 5th. Listen to “Bulletproof” here.
Naturally, we can’t go without acknowledging the elephant in the room. That elephant being Kanye West.
Ye previously gave fans snippets of what he was working on, including “TALKING,” which features North West. Many may recall back in December he held a private listening party where he brought out his daughter and a few of his friends including TY Dolla $ign, Offset, Lil Durk, and Freddie Gibbs.
Well, the day has come and Mr. West premiered his latest masterpiece, “VULTURES 1,” on Friday, February 9th. Apparently, fans and I alike were eager, as posts with snippets across his social media have over 6 million likes, 70M streams on Spotify, with the official music video for “TALKING” alone amassing over 10 million views in the past 5 days.
It goes without saying that Ye still got it.
