Hello, music lovers! Welcome back to this week’s music alert coming to you from Chi Town.
There was a lot going on in the city this weekend (FUN, FUN,FUN.) From my cousin’s wedding, to Sueños Music Festival, and those Memorial Day celebrations. Not enough time in the day(s) so my apologies on the delay.. with my post that is.
I guess i can jump right into it. Considering his music was played at my family’s gathering the past weekend, i figure I’ll start here. Before his ascent to the top of the music charts, Peso Pluma has captivated audiences with his signature style, memorable footwork, and mesmerizing voice. While he’s already been in the game a few short years now, he's quickly making his mark as an independent artist. He raises the bar with his latest track, 'Bye.' Though he could not be at Sueños Music Festival, the crowd appreciated his voice memo via Ms. Becky G.
Speaking of Chicago: One of its very own is almost healed. Lil Durk has just released his highly anticipated studio album, 'Almost Healed.' This 21-track masterpiece is a testament to Durk's artistry and features an impressive lineup of guest appearances. From J. Cole on "All My Life" to Future on "Never Imagined" and 21 Savage on "War About It," Durk has assembled a star-studded roster. The album also pays homage to the late Juice WRLD and King Von. He also recruited his ‘Broadway Girl’ collaborator, Morgan Wallen, on "Stand By Me." With production work from renowned names like Metro Boomin, Southside, and Zaytoven, the new LP came through with them heavy hits.
Go Go Barbie, Let’s Go Party! Dua Lipa contributes to the official soundtrack for the 'Barbie’ movie which is scheduled for release on July 21, 2023. Her track, "Dance The Night," offers her signature pop tune with a little something something. Give that a listen, here.
